Sources inside the CDA revealed that officials ignored the waiting list of 3500 applicants when they allotted 390 government plots last year.
Officials said that political intervention and favoritism ‘plagued’ CDA. “There is depression among employees who have no political backing since legal procedures for plot allocation are ignored,” an official added.
Former Member Administration CDA, Mustafain Kazmi, in his two month tenure allotted 50 houses ‘out of turn’ while the current Member Administration, Shokat Mohmand, has allotted 35 houses ‘out of turn’ within a period of three months the high official alleged. “Around 85 houses have been allotted following the requests and orders of politicians and bureaucrats,” he propagated.
However, Abdul Jabbar Milano, member planning, claimed that CDA allocated plots only to those individuals who had submitted proper applications.
He said that there was an acute shortage of residential units in the city which was why every applicant could not be accommodated.
