Robberies: Cash, valuables looted from 3 shops
Thieves attempt at breaking into utility store foiled by night watchmen.
HARIPUR:
Robbers deprived the owners of two shops in Ghazi Tehsil of cash and valuables worth millions, the Ghazi police said on Saturday. Quoting Haroon, the owner of Anjum Jewellers in Zamindaran Bazaar, Ghazi, the police said that he locked his shop on Friday evening after leaving Rs400,000 in cash in the shop, gold ornaments weighing 35 tolas worth Rs2.1 million and 300 grams of silver ornaments in the display cases. When he came to open the shop next morning he found the locks broken outside of the shop. Robbers also broke into Muhammad Hanif’s grocery shop near Masjid Dola Khan on the same night and decamped with grocery items and cash worth over Rs100,000. The thieves also attempted to break into a nearby Utility Store, but the night watchmen opened fire at them, after which they fled.
