False charges: SHO summoned for implicating senator’s son

LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham summoned Defence-B SHO Faisal Sharif for December 1 to respond to a petition seeking the registration of case against him for allegedly implicating the petitioner in a forged case.

Petitioner Irshad Nabi Bangash, son of Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Abdul Ghani Bangash, submitted that SHO Sharif had beaten him up during a raid and registered a case accusing him of possessing an illegal Kalashnikov and fifteen liquor bottles.

The petitioner also submitted an application to Operations DIG’s office for an impartial inquiry into the issue.

The inquiry report found SHO Sharif and some of his colleagues guilty of implicating Bangash in a fabricated case.

The report said the SHO had claimed Bangash was arrested on a roadside although he had actually been arrested from a flat in Defence.

The report said the SHO had entered the private premises illegally. It said the FIR against the petitioner appeared concocted as it claimed Bangash was in possession of an unlicensed Kalashnikov, even though he had produced a license for it.

The report said the flat was owned by Waheed, a friend of the petitioner. It said the SHO had apparently raided the flat to arrest a dancer, Nadia, who was not there. It said that the petitioner, a guest, was then arrested instead.

Bangash told the court that he had come to Lahore from Peshawar a few days ago with a friend, Aftab, to participate in a marriage ceremony. He said he was staying with a common friend, Abdul Waheed, at his flat in Defence.

He said a few weeks ago, SHO Sharif and other police officials, including some Elite Force officials had entered the house and beat him up. He said he was beaten again after he told them he was an ANP leader’s son. He said the police officials stole two Rolex watches (valued at Rs800,000), 10,000 in pound sterling, Rs5,00,000, a gold chain worth Rs100,000 and his licensed Kalashnikov rifle.

He said he was arrested and a case was registered against him under Sections 13/20/65 AO, 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

He said the allegations against him were false. He said SHO Sharif had a grudge against Waheed and had threatened him earlier.

He said he had approached the police officials to register a case against the SHO but no one had bothered. He asked the court to direct the CCPO, the DIG Operations and the Defence SHO to register case against the Defence-B SHO Sharif.

The judge summoned the SHO for December 1.
