“Pakistan and Turkey are bound by eternal friendship and brotherhood. The ties are getting stronger,” University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Prof IA Naveed said while welcoming a 9-member Turkish delegation at the UHS on Friday.
The delegation was headed by Dokuz Eylul University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Recep Yaparel. Other members were Theology Dean Prof Dr Huseyin Elmali, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist Prof Dr Serkan Guclu, Paediatric Surgery Specialist Dr Adnan Narci, Cardiologist Prof Dr Mustafa Akin, Genetics Specialist Prof Dr Orhan Terzioglu, Educationist Hatice Elif Guclu, Sedat Yesildal, and Chair of Tafseer Ali Cuneyt Eren.
Prof Naveed said the people of Pakistan knew that Turkey had supported them in difficult times and, therefore, their hearts beat in unison with their Turkish brethren.
He said the rapid progress recorded by Turkey during recent decades was a model for Pakistan. He said the cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey especially in the Punjab, for the execution of welfare and development projects including transport and solid waste management projects was praiseworthy.
Prof Yaparel thanked the vice chancellor and the UHS faculty for their warm welcome. He said Turkey’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Pakistan was no secret. He said the visit of the Turkish delegation to the UHS would open new chapters of cooperation, especially in the field of medical education and health research.
Prof IA Naveed appointed four members of the delegation as the adjunct faculty of the university.
Later, the delegation visited various departments of the university.
Service Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Prof Dr Faisal Masud and Punjab Institute of Cardiology Chief Executive Prof Dr Bilal Zakariya were also present.
