Ufone nominated for international award

Ufone has been nominated for Best Brand Award by World Communication Awards along with 6 international brands.

ISLAMABAD: Ufone has been nominated for the Best Brand Award by the 'World Communication Awards (WCA)' committee. Their competition for the prestigious award include Etisalat, Grameenphone, Idea Cellular, Telstra Enterprise & Government, Turk Telekom and Verizon Business.

This nomination follows an earlier nomination of Abdul Aziz, CEO &President Ufone for the Best CEO of the Year Award 2010.

Ufone is one of seven companies worldwide, and the only one in Pakistan to have been shortlisted for 'The Best Brand 2010'.

Commenting on this nomination, Akbar Khan, Chief Marketing Officer Ufone said "At a time when distress has over-ridden the country, this news comes as a source of inspiration and great pride for Pakistanis".

But once the customer is educated than they one with the best service will keep on doing good. there is no customer trend in Pakistan regarding this. any one having a cell phone has almost got sim of every service provider (telecom).

Fahad | 13 years ago | Reply I have used Jazz to start of then I used Telenor and then came Warid so I started using it and now I am a satisfied customer of U-Fone, I guess the only difference is that now im using a prepaid connection whereas before I always used Postpaid for other networks... Prepaid w/ Ufone is a good deal

If they advertise less and focus on consumers then automatically their audiance will increase. They are working on short term strategy. Through advertisement people are attracted but soon after one are two months shifted back to their original service. And signals are not good, even in the area like Saddar, Pakistan Chok and I.I. Chudrigar road.

Aftab | 13 years ago | Reply I cant believe im defending Ufone, but Mateen, the issues you mentioned are not really valid. There is call forwarding available, you can get delivery reports for Rs 10/month, and they already offer the cheapest call packages in Pakistan. As for your concern about signals in underground bunkers, well it depends upon how far you are from the cell tower. Obviously if a mobilink tower is closer, you will get better reception for Mobilink and vice versa. But given the size of their user-base, i think they're holding up pretty well. Especially given that they grabbed 41% of new subscribers in 2009, I would say their performance speaks for itself.

I am a senior journalist and write for English Newspapers. If you want to see my writeups, you can put my name in the Google's search string with " at the begining and at the end of my name and you will find 100 pages of mine on Google search engine with my writeups on different issues and topics, but if you go to ian ndividual search engine's string of each newspaper, you will find uncounted writeups of mine there. @x: For your kind information, I was the one who wrote to the then Prime Minister when the Ufone was about to launch to make all incoming calls free of charge on cell phones. The government then introduced "Calling Party Pays" (CCP) in Pakistan. This was not the only job I have done for a common man, but I have done much more jobs and the list goes on. Whatever I have suggested to the Federal Government was in the interest of a common a man of Pakistan. @x: I am sure that after reading this you must be satified with the statement I have posted.

Mateen | 13 years ago | Reply Ufone should decrease its call charges and provide free facilities like checking balance, free delivery reports, call forwarding facility to another cell number, so that it should attract more subscribers in the country. One of the problem with Ufone is that its signals are not so strong comparing to the Mobilink, as Mobilink users get the signals even in the underground.

Aftab | 13 years ago | Reply Awesome! They deserve it. Keeping the user experience fresh with amazing package plans, simply brilliant marketing strategies, very flexible tariff plans and overall great service symbolizes Ufone, and they have really outdone themselves in 2009/10.
