Inspector General of Police Haji Habibur Rahman has announced a Rs1 million prize for the Multan police for arresting five Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan men.
He also announced special appreciation certificates for Multan Regional Police Officer Amir Zulfiqar Khan, Operations Senior Superintendent of Police Gohar Nafees and Superintendent of Police, Cantt, Mansoorul Haq for their efforts against terrorism. The militants were arrested on Wednesday on their way to Dera Ismail Khan from Sher Kot.
During interrogations, they confessed their role in the killing of 10 jail employees at a hostel in Rasool Park, Lahore, and an attack on a police check-post in Babu Sabu. They also confessed to killing policemen and Shias in Dera Ismail Khan.
The police had recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the militants. The Multan police have arrested or killed 70 terrorism suspects from South Punjab in the last year.
