Pak-India squash series awaits approval

KARACHI: The Pakistan-India squash series is yet to be confirmed as both national federations are awaiting clearance from their respective governments.

“Both sets of officials have agreed to play against each other but things are yet to be decided on government level,” a Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) official told The Express Tribune. “The PSF is keen to give players maximum international exposure and a series against India will be huge for them.”

The PSF is already looking to help its players improve their rankings by helping them take part in Professional Squash Association (PSA) tournaments. However, the desired results are yet to be achieved. Plans were also being made to play series among three nations but that will prove very costly, according to the PSF.

“We want to involve Egypt and Malaysia on reciprocal basis because their players are ranked high. But the idea isn’t feasible for the PSF right now and the top officials feel that they can only afford to take on one country at this time.”
