More than 100 mobile phones, SIMs used for extortion blocked

CPLC chief says strict action is being taken against the owners of the SIMS.

More than 100 mobile phones along with their SIMs, which were being used for extortion, threatening calls and other crimes, have been blocked.

CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, speaking to Roznama Express, said that around 100 mobile phone SIMs that were used in extortion, threatening calls and other major crimes during past 20-25 days have been blocked, and strict action is being taken against the owners of the SIMs.


He added that the SIMs are being blocked on the directions of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

According to police, more than 800 complaints were received regarding extortion, from which most of the complaints have been addressed.
