Arms seized: 12 terror suspects detained from Gujrat

An intelligence agency in a joint operation with Gujrat police arrested 12 suspected terrorists from different areas of Gujrat district in north-eastern Punjab bordering the Azad Jammu Kashmir area of Bhimber, sources said on Thursday.


As many as 15 suicide vests, five landmines, three laptops, two AK-47 assault rifles, an MP5 SMG, 26 magazines, 500 bullets, 15 remote control /timer devices, 100 detonators, 800kg explosives, 21 hand-grenades, large number of SIM cards of different cellular companies, bomb-making equipment and maps of sensitive places and installations were recovered from the possession of the men.

Sources said that most of the arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from a house known as Shamsa Palace situated at Sagar Adda in Gujrat district.
