Spreading fear: Explosion in Tank damages school

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A public primary school was partially damaged due to an explosion at 5am on Thursday.

The incident occurred nearly 25 kilometres southeast of Tank in Nandor village, an official of the Mulazai police station in Tank told The Express Tribune.

According to the police official, the unidentified accused placed three bombs near the school building which went off with a huge explosion simultaneously. As a result, three rooms and the main gate of the school were damaged. There were no casualties as the incident happened early in the morning.

Meanwhile in the village of Amma Khel, unidentified people blew up a mobile shop with a homemade bomb. The shutter of the shop and the material kept inside were damaged, according to a police official.

After the incident, DSP Operations Tank Faridullah Khan Marwat and Mulazai Police Station SHO Muhammad Jan Khan, along with other police personnel and the bomb disposal squad (BDS) visited the site of the explosion. Another bomb was found at the site, which was defused by the BDS.

Following the blast, the police cordoned off the area and did a search operation, but no arrests were made, he said.

An FIR in both cases was registered against unidentified assailants.
