Following politicians, the judges too are uncomfortable travelling around the city and have ordered the removal of encroachments along Super Highway.
On Thursday, a Sindh High Court (SHC) bench told the commissioner and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to remove encroachments between Sohrab Goth and the toll plaza. The order came after an additional registrar at SHC’s Hyderabad bench complained that the security of judges was threatened by encroachments and illegal parking along the highway. SHC chief justice Mushir Alam had converted the application into a constitutional petition on April 14.
Justice Maqbool Baqir, who was heading the bench, directed Karachi Commissioner, Traffic DIG and Motorway and Highways DIG to resolve the problem.
The bench disposed of the petition and directed officials to submit a compliance report within six months.
