Enforced disappearance: PHC seeks reply against allegation

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought reply of the ministry of defence and officials of the Baloch Regiment along with station house officer Michni gate police station against allegations of detaining a Peshawar resident in illegal custody.

A petition was filed by Gul Haya, a resident of the provincial capital stating that her son-in-law Samiullah went missing on July 1, 2010 with two other people Janat Gul and Hassan Zeb from Hassan Garhi area of Peshawar. Zeb returned home after six days and Gul returned after eight months.

Counsel for the petitioner Advocate Gul Naz informed the bench that Gul and Zeb gave Samiullah’s family information about his location at Barak the #3 of the Baloch Regiment in Peshawar. In another case, court expressed dissatisfaction over the reply submitted by the director general Airport Security Force (ASF) of sub-inspector ASF Ataullah’s disappearance and asked for a detailed reply.
