The foreign secretary informed the Afghan ambassador about Pakistan’s stance on the incident. Calling them unhelpful and unproductive, Jilani said such attacks would only harm the conducive environment that Pakistan was trying to create for promotion of peace and stability in the region.
He strongly urged the Afghan government to take appropriate measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future.
According to military sources, the Afghan National Army troops had fired mortar rounds on November 11 from the Khuja Khadar (KK) Top checkpost in Afghanistan, which hit a civilian vehicle some two kilometres north of the Naray area of South Waziristan.
As a result, five people were killed. The victims were local villagers who were returning home after collecting firewood near the Pak-Afghan border.

@Pakistan Whisperer: First of all, please reveal your real name, Patel or Singh, whatever it is. Secondly, only some fool will believe something like "Pakistani Pashtuns will always side with Punjabis at the expense of the Pashtun people." May I ask what has Afghanistan done for the Pashtun people, other than being a global terror hub and disgrace? Afghan Pashtun soldiers regularly engage in cross-border firing, killing their so-called Pashtun brethren on the other side of the border. So get rid of your Pashtun card. Pakistani Pashtuns are not going to be easily fooled by you Afghans.
@maestro: "along with 40 indian consulates there" There are 5 Indian embassies and consulates in Afghanistan - in the exact same cities that Pakistan also has consulates in Afghanistan. http://embassy.goabroad.com/embassies-in/afghanistan
If you can provide the address of a 6h Indian consulate in Afghanistan and its address with a reference, that would be great.
"And at the same time, stop all funding from Saudi and UAE for the madrassah network in Pakistan that promotes nothing but hate and violence in the name of a religion they dont even understand to minor kids from impoverished families"
This part of your post I agree 100% with..
Blindly firing mortars across the border is stupid - doesn't matter where the mortar fire originates. It would be wise for both countries to start punishing the soldiers involved in this foolish activity.
Afghanistan looks up to Pakistan for its peace and tranquility but joins hands with India as its strategic partner at the cost of Pakistan's security concerns. An illogical equation which is not likely to work.
@maestro: “infrastructure” and their “security forces” along with 40 Indian consulates. Forty civilized consulate office meeting international standards are far better any day than forty terrorist training sites.
@Maestro
"They are stooges of india which has invested billions of dollars in their “infrastructure” and their “security forces” along with 40 indian consulates there"
If Pakistan acted in good faith they too would invest billions of dollars in their infrastructure but Pakistan invests in proxies to destablizie Aghanistan. For your information, there are four Indian consulates in Afghanistan not 40. Stop reading the ISPR news bulletins and stop watching Zaid Hamid and Hamid Gul's vitriolic propaganda.
Speaking of stooges. Pakistan has been a stooge of the US and China since its inception and you calling Afghanistan an Indian stooge is like the pot calling the kettle black.
"Unprovoked"? :-). I don't think so. People must be first class hypocrites and self deceivers to believe that.
@maestro: So you're saying that people you believe are harming you in a war that is currently primarily made up of cross border attacks can be deterred by telling them to cross the border? Yeah, that's well thought out.
@ASatisfied Indian: Your comments are best, Regards A Pakistani
When will this impotent gov't realize that the afghans are not Pakistan's allies? They are stooges of india which has invested billions of dollars in their "infrastructure" and their "security forces" along with 40 indian consulates there! Kick out all ungrateful afghan "brethren refugees" out of Pakistan now! Immediately you will see a complete change in the violence level in Pakistan for the better! The americans couldn't care less about Pakistani casualties - divide and rule my friends - when will we learn our lesson. And at the same time, stop all funding from Saudi and UAE for the madrassah network in Pakistan that promotes nothing but hate and violence in the name of a religion they dont even understand to minor kids from impoverished families.
Unprovoked? What have we be doing for the past 30 years, and still we have the audacity to call it unprovoked?
hahaha
In a related story few days ago Pakistan refused to attend flag meeting called by India to discuss unprovoked firing.
I miss the old days, when someone attacks a country you attack them. Now it is about writing press releases, watching Dr. Phil, maybe send flowers to attacker president and complain on media.
