LAHORE: A non-government organisation has called on the people and government of Pakistan to commit to providing an education to every child in the country.

In a joint statement, the goodwill ambassadors for Pakistan of the Southern Philippines Muslim Unity and Development Association (SPMUDA-International) hailed the United Nations’ pronouncement of November 10 as Malala Day and paid tribute to Malala Yousafzai for her courage.

They thanked UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon for supporting the child activist and her fight for education, describing her as a global symbol of every girl’s right to an education. They condemned the attack on Yousafzai and demanded that the government bring her assailants to justice. They vowed to continue their work for the protection and promotion of human rights.

The joint statement was released after a meeting here attended by SPMUDA-International’s Director General for Pakistan and Asia Pacific countries Munawar Ali Shahid, Zameer Afaqi, Mohammad Mahmood Khan and Advocate Nadeem Anthony.
