PESHAWAR:

Yet another dead body was found dumped in a gunny bag in the suburban area of Nahaqi, Daudzai on Saturday morning, only a few days after Peshawar High Court (PHC) directed to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police to conclude investigations on the matter by December 18.

The number of such incidents has now reached 27, with the latest being discovered in the jurisdiction of Daudzai police station.

“The head and both hands of the body were missing and hence its identity could not be established,” said a police official, requesting anonymity. The body was later sent to Khyber Medical College for a post-mortem.

Of the 27 cases, at least 10 bodies have been found in the Nahaqi and Daudzai area, while another 10 have been found in the jurisdiction of Chamkani police station. Others were found in Hayatabad and Sarband.

On Tuesday, a two-member bench comprising PHC Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth heard a case brought forward about the regular occurrence of dead bodies being found stuffed in gunny bags.
