Kurram Agency: Paramilitary personnel killed, 27 injured

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack as yet.

HANGU: A paramilitary official was killed and 27 other people were injured in a powerful bomb explosion on Wednesday in the Sadda Bazaar of Kurram Agency.

Sadda Assistant Political Agent (APA) Arif Khan said that the explosion occurred at around 11:15am in the bazaar in Ajab Khan Chowk. Among the injured were three levies personnel, an official of the political administration and 23 civilians.

The APA said political administration official Mera Jan had parked his vehicle near the market and was being accompanied by levies personnel when the explosion took place.

Levies personnel cordoned off the area, while the injured were shifted to Sadda Headquarters Hospital. According to bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials, three kilogrammes of explosives had been planted by the roadside and were detonated by a remote control.

APA Khan said that no militant groups had yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

On September 9, more than 10 people were killed in a remote-controlled bomb blast in the upper parts of Kurram Agency.
