Tennis: Berdych, Stepanek to lead Czechs

Spain’s Davis Cup captain Alex Corretja says he would also make no changes to his team.

PRAGUE: Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek will lead the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup final against holders Spain in Prague on November 16-18, said team captain Jaroslav Navratil yesterday. Besides Berdych and Stepanek, Navratil also named Lukas Rosol and Ivo Minar. “There was no reason to change the team as they played excellent tennis in Argentina,” said Navratil. “Berdych and Stepanek were clear choices, Rosol is a substitute for singles and Minar has done a great job so he deserves to be on the team.” The Czechs will be out for revenge against Spain who beat them 5-0 in the 2009 Davis Cup final. Spain’s Davis Cup captain Alex Corretja said Monday he would also make no changes to his team comprising David Ferrer, Nicolas Almagro, Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez.
