Two bodies were recovered from Jala Bandha Bahadur Khel area of Karak district on Monday morning.
The residents of Rehmatabad informed the police that around 8am two bodies were found on Bannu Road, Inspector Aslam told The Express Tribune. The police rushed to the area and shifted them to District Headquarters Hospital, he said.
“National Identification Cards and other documents found near the bodies identified the men as Muhammad Umair, 28, from the district, and Shahabuddin, 37, from North Waziristan,” he added.
He said the men had been tortured and shot before being dumped by unidentified assailants.
Nobody in the village could identify the men and the hospital refused to keep the bodies because they lacked morgue facilities.
“The police insisted on keeping the bodies in the hospital after the postmortem, but I did not permit it,” said Medical Superintendent Dr Lal Shara. “We don’t have a morgue in the hospital,” he said, adding that the bodies were handed back to the police.
