ISLAMABAD:

The police on Friday registered a case against an absconder, and key suspect in the murder of former attorney general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Sardar Muhammad Khan, for threatening an investigator over the phone.

Roohullah, the murder suspect had escaped from Divisional Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi in August where he was admitted for medical tests in police custody. The police officials on guard in the hospital and Adiala Jail officials were accused of facilitating his escape.

Subsequent investigations into Roohullah’s escape suggested he was present in Afghanistan. The recent call he made to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Head Constable Iftikhar Ahmed, who is investigating the case, confirmed Roohullah’s location across the border.

Industrial Area police registered another case against Roohullah under the Telegraph Act for making a threatening call to the police investigator. “He threatened to teach him a lesson for actively pursuing his case,” said a police officer.

Ahmed was part of the investigation team that was probing Roohullah’s escape from the hospital. The “prime suspect” had been arrested from Dubai with the help of InterPol (International Police) by the capital police after the Supreme Court took notice of the AG’s murder and ordered his immediate capture.
