According to a local media person, TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan claimed responsibility for the target killings and said that the attacks were proof of TTP allies still existing in Swat.
During the last two weeks, three people have been gunned down and two injured in three separate attacks on peace committee members.
A local peace committee member, Ibrar, said that the people of Swat were not in favour of the militants and did not want to see them returning.
“Peace committees have been formed to keep an eye on the absconded militants’ return and to timely inform the security forces if they find any such elements in their area. That is why, the peace committee members are targeted by them [Taliban] but we want to tell them clearly that such actions would not discourage us and we will continue with our mission,” he said.
The TTP had also claimed responsibility for attacking a 14-year-old child rights activist in Swat – an attack which received worldwide condemnation. Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head and is currently under treatment at a hospital in UK.
The Pakistan Army had claimed to have cleared the Swat valley of militants after a military offensive in 2009.
7 Afghan suspects arrested
Seven Afghan citizens were arrested during a raid by security forces on a house located in a camp in the Dir Lower district on Friday.
An official of the security forces, who wished to remain anonymous, said that around 3:00am, security forces raided a house in the Afghan Refugee Camp-I, a kilometer east of Timergara Bazar, and apprehended seven suspects including an Afghan National Army personal. He added that the camp was raided on intelligence information.
“Forces also seized weapons from the refugees,” the official said. The official also said that forces didn’t surround the camp.
“They just raided the spotted house and arrested them,” adding that they were held on suspicion and shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
On September 2, one police member was killed and four were injured when their van came under attack from unknown militants in Bazarak Afghan Refugee Camp in the Dir district.

Taliban are the most dangerous and real enemies of peace from within Pakistan for Pakistan, for its innocent and sinless people and departments..... Then why are we afraid of outsider enemies whereas we can't control them?????? First we have to handle these from within Pakistan's enemies then outsider enemies.....
Oh how well you think you have the threat of terrorism contained that you can use it to destabilize at will. Just wait, that snake is gonna bite someday.
@Enlightened: Army is still in Swat but cannot sit in every village of Swat 24/7. The same way NATO cannot do the same across the border, but liberals and their Indian allies refuse to believe these stark realities.
The notion that the Taliban are under the control of army is illogical & attempts to complicate the situation. There is no doubt ISI nurtured these groups for proxy wars in Afghanistan and Kashmir. But due to turn in policy of Pak army (willingly or under US pressure) after 9/11, the Taliban are against Pakistan. If they were under pak army control, would they attack GHQ, Mehran bases and destroy assets of billions, suicide attacks on generals, Kamra airbase, and kill thousands of soldiers?
Those who are confused, and trying to confuse the nation, about their stance on Taliban like PTI and JI (must watch Nov. 1 talk show of Munawar Hassan with Shahzeb), have their sights set on elections. Whenever, there is an attack by Taaliban, the pro-taliban elements try to link them to either CIA/drones or ISI/army. In the process the real enemy is forgotton, what to say of being clearly condemned. But the recent events, especially the Malala tragedy, have exposed them badly. A huge majority of Pakistanis now believe these militants as threat to peace, and in KP in particular a threat to peace, education and cultural values of Pakhtuns.
This TTP is a front for Al-Qaeda, Saleem Shehzad wrote this in his book. What they have done here is very similar to what they have done with Al-Shabab in Somalia, AQIAP in Yemen and now in northern Mali. Pakistan, how does it feel to be part of these group of proud nations?
Ah. So now what happens to Imran's plan of letting the tribal people drive out TTP? Looks like TTP is kiling the tribal people who want peace. People who have nothing to do with drones also.
@Enlightened
You took the words right out of my mouth/keyboard and I couldn't agree more. Taliban are the biggest red herring propagated by Pak Army to destroy Pashtun culture. Farhat Taj exposes the Taliban myth in her opinion piece for the Friday Times. http://www.thefridaytimes.com/beta3/tft/article.php?issue=20120427&page=6
The only answer to their increasing audacity is to target kill the key TTP people like Ehsanullah Ehsan, Hakimullah Mehsud, Mullah Fazlullah, and Maulvi Faqir. Until then, they will remain on offensive, and the 5th largest army/nuclear nation on the defensive.
Great news IK will be proud. Progress in becoming Emirate of Pakistan.
Can anyone deny that the Taliban are responsible for disturbance of peace in the region? Their only aim is death and destruction. It seems that they kill not only to terrorize the locals but also to remain in the news. They are never ashamed of proudly claiming responsibility for each and every evil deed they perform.

@sick of this nonsense I believe Nadir was being sarcastic.
@Nadir: I totally agree. Furthermore 9/11 was an inside job. Landing on the moon was a hoax. Malala was a jew super secret agent who know karate. Osama bin laden was planted by the US in Abottabad. On a serious note you just justified murder because of drone strikes. Secondly you want the police to look incompetent but not the army? why? Have they fallen from the sky? Or had a traumatic experience with the police as a child? Cheers to you my delusional friend.
If only drone strikes would stop, nothing would then force peace loving Taliban from killing people in Swat who aid security forces. It would also not make the Pakistan Army look incompetent as terrorists continue to kill people, especially when the police should be blamed! Btw, the Taliban are backed by the CIA!
