MUZAFFARABAD: A mother and father in Pakistan-administered Kashmir killed their 15-year-old daughter by dousing her with acid after seeing her talking to a young man, police said Thursday.
Local police officer Tahir Ayub told AFP the father, Mohammad Zafar, had had suspicions about his daughter Anvu Sha and became enraged when he saw her with a boy outside their home on Monday.
“Zafar beat her up and then poured acid over her with the help of his wife. She was badly burnt but they did not take her to hospital until the next morning, and she died on Wednesday,” Ayub said.
Doctor Mohammad Jahangir of the state run Kotli hospital confirmed the death, saying the girl was brought to hospital in a “very critical condition” with almost 70 percent burns.
Anvu Sha’s married elder sister alerted police and demanded they investigate the incident in Khoi Ratta district, 140 kilometres (87 miles) north of Muzaffarabad.
“The parents have confessed, saying that they suspected the girl had illicit relations with a boy,” Ayub said. “We have registered a murder case against the girl’s father and mother.”

@Utkarsh Singh: Did you know the area of the world most concentrated with soldiers is Indian occupied Kashmir. Obviously when it's said to be Azad, it means it is autonomous. Pakistani laws do not apply there, but if India has so many forces on the other side, we have to protect our side. And in Pakistani maps, it is 'Azad Kashmir', not Pakistani Kashmir. So get your facts right.

1st - Can we people focus on the issue for once? Even in this horrifying news, people have started fighting over Kashmir. The news is about human suffering. Please discuss that. If you don't have anything to say about the news, go to an "Indo-Pak" forum and fight all you want.
2nd - Many people here are saying that these people will escape punishment on the grounds that it was Honor killing. I think they should get even more severe punishment BECAUSE it was honor killing. People will not deter unless and until they are show the fear of death. Such people only care about themselves and only a death penalty can prevent such acts from repeating.

It is Azad Kashmir and we have our own Prime minister and Supreme Court and Whole Pakistani Constitution does not apply on state. It is not Pakistan Administrative Kashmir as stated...Indian Lobby always said it Pakistani Administrative Kashmir as indian said.

Why are we still selling industrial strength acid as household ceramic cleaner in all the retail stores? This is outrageous. You can clean with other less harmful materials. These kinds of chemicals should be sold to people unless they are a procurement manager in a factory.
@Utkarsh Singh: @External Hand: Mr Indian Kashmiris have no problems in Pakistan at all and they have an Autonomous entity but it does not make them Anti Pakistanis and Kashmiris are living in Karachi and in Lahore with no Problems whatsoever and they travel around the world on Pakistani Passports and they have no problems. Secondly first give Jammu back to Kashmiris and then point fingers to Pakistanis or others. Charity begins at home and Kashmir is not an Integral part of India and India must vacate Kashmir and their Brutal Rules like POTA etc must be abolished. People in Azad Kashmir have no problems with no Military presence in every street except on the borders while in Indian Occupied Kashmir ( IOK) why you have so much insecurity that even in your so called fake integral part you have to place more than 800,000 Paramilitary troops upon Kashmiris and in every nook and corner of the valley??

The facts of the method, length of time, relationship to the victim nor the motivation are the issue. The issue is someone caused harm and death to another. I never thought I could be this disgusted by any news. They not only burnt her with acid, but saw her writhing in pain all night! This is not even animalstic behavior because no animal can see its baby in pain and not do anything all night.

Crimes like this stem from the fundamental religious teaching that women are inferior to men and that they possess bodies that are inherently shameful. Such shame must be protected by the men of the household by banishing her from social life that involves any contact with men because she can not be trusted and hence must be protected.
Shame on us and shame on our religion and society that has led us to this path.

But is it really possible when even educated and reputed editor / analyst / columnist like Ansar Abbasi say that music and dance in any form, even classical or cultural, is strictly forbidden in his Islam. "Mere Islam" (his Islam) are his exact words. He further went on to say that according to his Islam, music and dance is the culture of brothels. He said this live on a recent TV talk show. Every one has his own version of Islam.

I think pakistanis r really confused.Yesterday i was reading a news in TOI,where a muslim girl from pakistan went to court to get married with an indian hindu boy in SA. Actually the boy refused to marry her.The girl has illicit relationship with the boy and she has accepted it while filing her case.I didnt see her parent killed her.Infact they r infavor of marriage.Only boys family is opposing the knot ,all due to religious differences.

A couple in Muzzafarabad killed their daughter for talking to a boy ? Since when has talking become the equivalent of fornicating, though killing for any reason is stupid. This kind of gender prejudice is shocking and appalling. I thought we were living in the twenty first century but the clock remains stuck in the barbaric age for many. Too gruesome for words.
Who can kill their own child whom they have given birth and brought up? Even animals do their best and even risk their lives to protect their offspring.
