Information and Broadcasting Minister says delaying election will hurt the reputation of the government

LALAMUSA: The government would not want to ruin its credibility by delaying the general elections, stated Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira.

Talking to media persons at his residence on Tuesday, the minister reiterated that an interim government would be formed by 18 March, 2013, and the general elections would be held as per schedule.

He added that a consensus to form the caretaker government would be reached before mid of March.

Earlier in September, President Asif Ali Zardari had urged office-bearers of the Pakistan Peoples Party to prepare for the next general elections.

He expressed confidence that the party will win the elections despite the challenges the government and the party was facing on various fronts.
