Cricket: ICC approves day-night Tests

LONDON:

The ICC gave the nod of approval to day-night Test matches in a series of latest amendments made yesterday.

Participating countries may now agree to play day-night Tests with the home and visiting boards deciding on the schedule of six hours of play per day. In other changes, the third umpire will be called upon to check for a no-ball after dismissals. Previously, the third umpire would only be asked to adjudicate if a decision was referred to him by the on-field officials, but will now immediately check the fairness of a delivery ‘following any mode of dismissal that is not permitted off a no-ball’. The new rules will be introduced in the Sri Lanka and New Zealand series which gets underway today.
