Chaudhry Shujaat's delegation detained by Indian authorities
Hussain and his delegation were detained and investigated by Indian authorities and were released after two hours of custody upon the intervention of the Pakistani Consulate.
According to Express News correspondent Naeem Qaiser, Hussain and his group were taken into custody just as he came out of the shrine after Eid prayers. They could not provide their passports and copies to the Indian authorities, as they did not have them in their possession at that time.
Hussain had to return to their hotel in Jaipur and onward to Delhi to attend the wedding of a political friend’s son.
The PML-Q leader is in India on a four-day tour, accompanied by a contingent including his son Shakir Hussain.

@Pro Truth: I do not want to visit India but you have to follow the law of the land . Being rich or famous or big politician does not exempt you from the law of the land. Always remember " Do not give chance to other person to step on your foot " In this casefault lies with Mr Shujaat & Co .first why did he go to India especially to this Mazar.Pakistan is RICH in mazars itself. We have mazars in every corner of any given city. He can come to my Mazar when I die. Obviously I will be not that famous. Did GOD say you communicate with me thru mazars? Coming back to the main issue, what is the learning lesson? When you are in Rome, do as Romans do. as far as mr khan is concerned .. he was carrying all his documents at the time he was detained.. clear case of harassment because he is a muslim...not acceptable..

@all law abiding Indians Would that our police had arrested LK Advani under the name of law in 2005, being a accused in an FIR No. 4/47 registered in local police station of Karachi due to involvement of Mr. Advani in killing conspiracy of the then Governor General. Later on he was declared absconder; then we see the reaction of these law abiding people. However, as I said earlier, we cannot act like that as we respect guests specially the elders one. Any way we have seen the hoax created when Shahrukh Khan was questioned at US airport, at that none has asked what the law says and whether US authorities violated any law. Just he & cry at that time. I salute all these people.

First rule of thumb is to follow the law of the land.For example In UK motor vehicles are driven on the left side and in USA they are driven on the right side. Now you go to USA and start driving on the left side. You know what will happen to you. You will be crushed to death before police could catch you. Even in Saudi Arabia when you go for hajj or umra they want you to keep your passport with you when you are out of hotel. So what is lesson out of this news? Please follow the law of the land. That the law of all lands must be obeyed is universally applied and cannot be disputed.Why there is so much of heartburn on this issue is because of the Indo-Pak relations and our history and it will take time for people to treat each other as we treat other neighbours.Why our people feel let down is and believe me that i am stating it with sincerity and no malice is because we treat the Indian Yatrees and visitors with a lot of respect and compassion and you cannot quote even one instance of any Indian celebrity having been ever embarrassed whether He was carrying his documents on person at all times or not.I know it for a fact that many of them never carry them on their person and have never feared it because they know they have come legally.The Chaudhrys and all Pakistanis must learn the lesson but a bit of compassion and understanding by the Indian Police in such cases of members of parliament and celebrities would help better our relations and dispel misperceptions.But this change cannot come overnight and possibly never with an overbearing or misplaced sense of superiority.

The title of the news clip is misleading . Mr. Choudhary was not on official visit hence there can not be any delegation as mentioned in the news title . It was a group ( not a delegation) visiting to Ajmer Shrine and later attend a wedding in Delhi

For security reasons Police do check randomly and the unfortunate incident happened unintentionally. We respect all and expect others to respect our laws.

Rules for Pakistanis when they visit India are different from all other foreigners. It is the same for Indians visting Pakistan. For example for most foreigners visting India once they enter India they can travel anywhere within India but Pakistanis would have only 3 cities marked on passport and they are not supposed to go anywhere else. So if a Pakistani is in a city other than that which was marked on their visa, how can a law enforcement agent determine that if they are not carrying their passport with them?
Unsure why this is being made into an India-Pakistan issue when it is a simple law enforcement issue. Until a few years back, India too had a feudal culture like Pakistan where the high and mighty blatantly disobeyed the law and got away with it. This is changing with active role by civil society and media. Even Sonia's son-in-law is not beyond questioning and several of our former ministers are in jail. A beginning in that direction appears to have been made in the Bakery case involving SS' son-in-law. You all need to build on that momentum.

If a person breaches traffic laws or without ticket in train , gets arrested for minimum of 1 days . Then why did these people get release after 2 hours ? It is good to always carry the passport when visiting other country. the law enforcemnt agencies of the host country do have the right to ask for identification. there is no harm in it.

Barring the President , Vice President and the Prime Minister all other ministers and Members of Parliament are routinely frisked and searched at all airports and other sensitive locations . Reducing this sense of VIP entitlement of differential treatment has improved the security climate . Members of Parliament are welcome to their privileges but definitely not at the cost of security of the common man ,

I always wanted to visit India one day, but if a Pakistani minister is treated like this, it gives a very negative signals. Do they check passports of every visitor in Ajmer? They just wanted to humiliate them!
These are eminent people and should have been treated with better consideration in India. But why did they not have their passports with them? Even someone with a small bit of intelligence will know that if you venture out to another country without a passport, then you are asking for trouble. Travel between India and Pakistan is not possible without passport and visa. That's the legal position. Didn't Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain know this?
To the many Pakistanis who are outraged that he was expected to follow Indian law and who were similarly outraged in the Rahat Fateh Ali Khan case, I would like to simply say this. Yes, like Pakistan, in India too we have historically tolerated a feudal mindset where the rich and powerful are not subject to law which only lowly unconnected Indians need to follow. But in the past few years there has been a change. Civil society and media are fighting back against this attitude and even Sonia Gandhi's son in law is under the scanner. This is a change for the better and instead of making this to be an India - Pakistan issue, you should also push for such changes in your own country. Feudalism has had its day. It is now time for the mango man.

It is a required by law in India and most other countries that foreigners alway carry their passport and other essential documents on their person when they are traveling in a foreign country. They are expected to produce these document whenever requested. I am sure these procedural requirements are clearly stated in their visa application forms.

There has to be more to the story. Indian Police is not in the habit of randomly stopping foreigners outside a shrine and asking for documents.
Rules of any country need to be obeyed. I am also dreaming of visiting the nani mandir, the biggest shaktipeeth, in Balochistan one day, and I will have to carry my docs everywhere with me but carrying a passport only to have it potentially misplaced is not a good idea.

Should we condemn Indian for performing their legal duties or should we plead the innocence of our own people who never fail to show up their feudalistic mentality where ever they go. One should not be on the wrong side of the law, as they say, but these parasitic politicians never bother to respect even the law of the land they are subject to, how can they be expected to behave otherwise while being on foreign land. this is not the first time that Chaudhry and his coterie got into trouble while being on foreign land. In Spain once they had to encounter the similar situation. I only hope and pray that they learn to respect the law of the land they happen to be in and behave like decent Pakistanis.

We all must raise our voice against this treatment of Indian Officials as it is showing the attitude of the Indian mind about the Pakistan.
