‘No hides to banned outfits’: Pindi police chief sends stern warning to officers

RAWALPINDI:

The local police have been directed to take action against members of banned outfits found involved in collecting sacrificial animals’ hides on Eid.

Following a directive from Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Muhamad Zubair directed all deputies to keep an eye on banned elements. Strict action would be taken against officers if they are unable to curb collections of hides by proscribed organisations in their areas, the directive said.

Earlier, IG Punjab had directed all RPOs and city police officers to keep an eye on banned religious and extremist outfits on Eid. A circular from his office said it is necessary to stop these elements from collecting hides and generating finances that would later be used in terrorist activities.
