Kalabagh Dam Project: KBD unacceptable, says PPP

The Pakistan Peoples Party would not accept the project at any cost, Sharjeel Memon says.

KARACHI:

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that all the patriot forces have rejected, what he called, the anti-Pakistan project of Kalabagh.

The Pakistan Peoples Party would not accept the project at any cost, he said in a statement on Thursday.

Memon said that three provinces have rejected the project, yet some “political orphans are trying to politicise the project”.  The judiciary has exposed the Sharif brothers who, he said, would bear a heavy defeat in the next elections.

The PML-N is trying to gain cheap popularity but their conspiracies will not succeed because the people of Pakistan can differentiate between good and bad, he added.

I think there is need for an authentic statement by Government on environmental implications of Kalalbagh Dam. We hear about flooding of Nowshera and of inundation of Lower Sind by the sea water.

Actually Water and Power resources should be a Federal subject and no one province should benefit because the a dam is located in that province.

Pakistan will never move forward as a nation - we have been arguing about this dam for over 20 years then we complain we dont have hydro electricity
