MALIKWAL: Three labourers died on Thursday after they were trapped inside the Jotana Salt Mines number 9 in Malikwal. A Mineral Development Corporation spokesperson claimed the salt mine had been closed and the labourers had gone inside without informing anybody. He said they were trapped underneath a boulder and suffocated to death. He said the bereaved families would be compensated. The labourers were identified as Muhammad Khan, Zaheer Ahmed and Muhammad Khalil. The families of the deceased alleged that the incident occurred because the corporation had not equipped the labourers with proper tools.
