FAISALABAD:

Pakistan’s six percent graduation rate is very low in comparison with developed countries, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Zakir Hussain said on Thursday.

Talking to students during a visit to various faculties, Hussain said people must be encouraged to pursue higher education to meet the demands of the modern world.

He said students must ensure attendance in classes.

“You are fortunate to be getting a higher education. My advice is that you should not waste your time and spend more time in libraries.”

He said education enables individuals to make informed decisions and increases their ability to play a productive role in society.

He said the GCUF was committed to improving teaching and infrastructure. He said the varsity was building a new 200-acre campus at Jhang Road.

He said teachers must work with students to remove their deficiencies. He said it was a matter of pride that GCUF got a 91 per cent Quality Assurance rating by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
