Fake degree: K-P sports minister’s case hearing adjourned

PESHAWAR:

A Peshawar court has adjourned hearing into the fake degree case against K-P Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah until November 1.

The hearing was held before the District and Sessions Judge Shahbar Khan.

Shah, who is a member of the Awami National Party, obtained his graduation degree from Lahore but the institution he graduated from was not yet recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).  His degree was declared fake.

Shah’s attorney, Abdul Latif, contended that his client has filed a civil suit against the university, adding that a criminal case cannot be initiated since a civil case is pending.

Pakistan Peoples Party minister Rahimdad Khan also faces charges of possessing a fake degree.
