Wynne meets Zardari, discusses military matters

Professional matters pertaining to the armed forces were discussed during the meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) General Khalid Shameem Wynne called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the President House on Thursday.   

Professional matters pertaining to the armed forces were discussed during the meeting, a President House statement said.

The president also hosted lunch for him.

Commenting on a military operation in North Waziristan, the president had earlier stated that no operation will take place unless there is a national consensus.

Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani had also said that the decision of a military operation will be taken by the army and the government of Pakistan without any external pressure.

Earlier, the JSCS chairman had emphasised that stability in Pakistan was directly linked with the security situation in Afghanistan.  The committee had also reiterated their resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism in the country.
