Fatal Incident: Robbers gun down bank security guard

A private security guard was shot dead by five unidentified men during a robbery at Bank Al-Habib near Gizri flyover, according to the Gizri police station.


They added that the robbers escaped. SHO Asif Jameel said that the robbers first snatched a gun from the security guard sitting outside the bank and then tried to snatch the gun of another guard who was inside the bank.

“When they tried to snatch his weapon, he offered resistance and they gunned him down,” said Jameel. The guard, identified as 40-year-old Mohammad Waryam, was injured and taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Jameel said that Waryam was originally from Khairpur and was currently living in Shanti Nagar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

He added that CCTV footage had been obtained which would help the police in ascertaining if the robbers were involved in any previous robberies.

No FIR had been registered till the filing of this report.
