Notice taken: CM reassures KCCI on law and order

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has assured top officials of the Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) that he is issuing directives to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to yield visible results for law and order improvement in all industrial and commercial zones of the city within three days. According to a statement issued by the KCCI, the chief minister had taken notice after the KCCI had recently announced a complete strike on November 10, 2012 due to the law and order situation. However, the KCCI expressed regrets that various meetings with the provincial chief executive in the past had yielded no betterment in the law and order situation. The KCCI maintained that it stood by its decision on the strike. Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh has issued directives that the business community be taken into confidence regarding security measures. The IGP has further directed that policing plans be upgraded. He said that the traders’ community should also be apprised of the special cells that have been established.
