Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that even though he accepted the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Asghar Khan case, he would not accept any investigation in the case by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Addressing farmers in Bahauddin Zakarya University on Monday, the chief minister said he would embrace the decision of a neutral commission wholeheartedly.

“If corruption of a single rupee is proven against me, I will resign from my seat,” said Shahbaz, adding that the top court of the country should order an independent commission, monitored by the court itself.

The chief minister hurled allegations at the FIA chief, saying he had never launched an inquiry on merit and that all investigations had been politically motivated in the past four years.

He demanded open inquiry commissions on all corruption cases in the country, including the Hajj scandal and the distribution of secret funds through the Intelligence Bureau.

Later on during a visit to Bahawalnagar, the chief minister said that President Asif Ali Zardari was in no position to raise accusations against his family as he had plundered billions of rupees from the country and deposited it in Swiss bank accounts.

The precedence set by Arsalan to have a commission of choice will be emulated by all. After all the duo brothers are no less closer to the make break power.
