Tennis: Iftikhar downed in ITA final

The 19-year-old Pakistani had earlier won the title in New Mexico.

KARACHI: Samir Iftikhar lost to top-seed Enej Bonin 6-0, 6-3 in the ITA Regional Championships boys’ singles final at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas. Samir, who defeated fifth-seed Andy Bettles from Boise State University 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 in the semi-final on Saturday, was playing his second final of the Inter-collegiate Tennis Association (ITA) season in the US. The 19-year-old Pakistani, who is representing the university of New Mexico at regional events, had earlier won the title in New Mexico.
