According to the report, the family is worried because no steps have been taken to provide protection to the girl despite several requests for security.
Hina, a student of grade 11, had publicly denounced the acts of the Taliban in 2009. She also held a press conference in 2008 after she got to know that the Taliban were becoming further intolerant towards girls seeking education.
Hina told Dawn.com on Monday that she had left Swat due to security concerns but she fears that she won’t be able to attend school even in Islamabad as she has been continuously receiving threats.
The girl’s father Raitullah Khan told the English daily that his wife Farhat, a social worker, has also started receiving threatening calls since August this year. A few days ago, Raitullah found a red cross painted over his gate but he removed it only to find it re-painted again the next day, the report said.
The next day, he claimed, that he received a call which said that Hina will be next after Malala.
Farhat said that she has personally contacted Interior Minister Rehman Malik and has sent an application to the interior ministry but has received no response. She claimed that the family had moved to Islamabad in 2006 after receiving threats and had been changing residences in Islamabad frequently.

Need to get rid of Zia-ul-haq's children, not biological but political and ideological. Either they thrive and wipe us out, or we thrive and wipe them out! The attack on Malala shows no middle ground can be reached
p.s. The recent SC ruling also proves which party was the establishment's child and heir to Zia-ul-haq's throne/mindset
I request not to declare these fanatic people as non Muslim, this is the disgrace of the other religions. They are all mindless barbarians that's it. Jodat Kazmi
It is very strange that daughter of soil have courage to speak against monster but son of soil of whole Pakistan are hiding behind these brave girl. These girls are true Aryan who ready to sacrifice them self their honor & right. All people who comment on these news article from Pakistan should be ashamed.
So the government have decided not to take action against the Taliban, who have been given a free reign to continue in their murder and plunder. How many more Malalas will it take to finally take action?
and the liberolls secularoons and murtadoons are fighting all this by making frantic phone calls to their liquor suppliers and drug dealers....and urging for even more .fashion shows.....They are "modern" and "educated"...They know-alls.
Government probably would not protect her and when something happen, there will be lofty words again.
Until Pakistan gets rid of these criminal, what is the point in talking about it repeatedly.
Stop talking do something!
@Cautious: Dear Cautious, Although these young females have my sympathy, and I am in no way being critical of your stance on the matter, what do you suggest the authorities should do to protect them?
Salute to brave daughters of this nation these little teenagers stood up to the tyrant talibans where as our adults and big revolutionists have failed miserably.
Malik is the most incompetent interior minister, he is directly responsible for the safety of the Pakistanis and particularly this girl Hina , if any harm comes to Hina, Malik should be prosecuted for negligence, there got to be some accountability for these high and mighty.
Pakistan has produced some very brave women, from Fatima Jinnah to Benazir Bhutto, from Arfa Karim to Malala Yousufzai. All these women stood up for Women’s rights in Pakistan, and created a positive and strong image of Pakistan on world stage. Today another brave young Pakistani girl, Hina Khan, is under threat for standing strong and raising her voice against Taliban atrocities. We have seen the whole world, including Pakistanis from all sections of the society, stand up against these ruthless attacks especially on Malala just recently. Now the TTP cowards have sent threats against Hina, too. It is time for all to stand together and protect the little “Malalas” and “Hinas” all over the world. The message to the terrorists should be unanimous from all sections of society: we won’t tolerate this anymore.

@Enlightened: "They should be declared as non-Muslims as they are tarnishing the good image of Islam" The issue is not whether they are Muslims or not the issue is whether they are enemies of the state or not - unless you are of the opinion that the 2 things are the same and all Pakistani Hindus, Christian, Sikhs and Ahmadis are also enemies of the state. And if they indeed are enemies of the state whether Muslim or not then what is the state going to do to protect its citizens from these enemies?
Incidentally there are many in Pakistan that say these people (TTP) are RAW agents creating fassad. If that is the case they would hardly be concerned about being declared non-Muslims - right? Of course strangely these non-Muslim RAW agents do not quote the Bhagwad Geeta or the Indian constitution to justify shooting at Malala, they quote from the Quran.
Don't worry! All the Jiyalas & pseudo-intellectuals would b blaming "Imran Khan" if any mishap happened again..! Typical ignorant attitude..
Talibanization is curse for Pakistan, we have to eliminate Talibanization for prosper Pakistan. Otherwise, no option!!
@Enlightened: "Namard jihadi"
I understand what you mean and agree with your intent. However, I would challenge you to review the mindset that says that only mard have courage and those without courage are namard. Malala is not a mard and neither is Hina, nor was Benazir or Sherry (when she brought in a private member bill related to blasphemy) or Asma Jahangir. This language reinforces the stereotype that courage is the sole attribute of men when facts prove otherwise. Humne chudiya nahin pehan rakhin, grow a pair are other examples of language reinforcing such social stereotypes.
They should get protection from the people responsible for inflicting this stone age mentality upon us. Mr Raitullah Khan should contact General Kayani at the earliest.
Those individuals who are threatened have only two options. Keep quiet or leave the country. The government will not fight terrorists because there is no consensus and consensus is mpossible in next hundred years. Miss Khan, you are on your own. Good luck.
I don't blame the family - why the authorities are doing nothing is beyond me.
Namard jihadi(Impotent warriors) is the only way to describe these cowards since they are threatening small girls rather than protecting them. They should be declared as non-Muslims as they are tarnishing the good image of Islam.
May Allah swt give Pakistanis the courage to stand up for their daughters who simply wish to seek education as the Prophet pbuh wished for his Ummah.
Pakistani Muslims have a lot to learn from the courageous Muslimahs like Malala and Hina
