LAHORE: A consumer court on Saturday directed the Dynamic Computer Systems (DCS) manager to pay Rs60,000 to a customer for failing to return a laptop brought to it for repair. Petitioner Muhammad Amin submitted that he purchased the laptop for Rs118,000 from Dubai on August 18, 2006. He said a minor fault occurred in the laptop and he took it to the DCS at Hafeez Centre. DCS Country Manager Sajid Mahmood assured him it would be repaired and returned within a week.Amin said he kept visiting the shop from Okara but Mahmood did not return his laptop. He said he served Mahmood with a legal notice on September 7 but he did not respond. He prayed to the court to direct Mahmood to either return the laptop or pay him Rs118,000. He also sought Rs10,000 for mental torture. Mahmood said Amin had indeed given him the laptop but he had never refused to return it. The court determined that the laptop’s price was about Rs50,000 and Amin was entitled to it. It also granted him Rs10,000 for the inconvenience.
