Cricket: Lions beat Yorkshire to reach CLT20 semi-final

Highveld Lions defeated Yorkshire to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League Twenty20 in Johannesburg yesterday. Chasing a target of 132, Lions’ Jean Symes scored 27 off 22 balls to guide his team to a five-wicket win. He was also named the man of the match.

Lions captain Alviro Petersen was satisfied with his team’s performance and lauded the efforts of his bowlers.

“I thought the bowling was excellent,” said Petersen. “But we could have done more with the bat. We discussed halfway through the game that D/L could be a factor, towards the end they bowled some dot balls, but there were some calm heads out there.”
