PESHAWAR:

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Friday that no one would dare bring a resolution to launch an offensive in North Waziristan, including the government.

He said all decisions regarding this needed to be made according to the constitution because it was the sole document all parties agreed to. “If any decision is taken against the constitution, it will just be a personal decision not taken in regard with others’ views,” he said.

Talking to journalists, Rehman also said that if the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) wanted to join the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) they would need to send an application to MMA heads for consideration. He said that adjustments for elected seats will be made considering other parties in the upcoming general election but ruled out alliances with other political groups. He said MMA’s reorganisation, that was announced earlier on Thursday will be completed in a month’s time.
