Tennis: Aqeel, Yasir advance in NBP event

KARACHI: Top-seed Aqeel Khan and Yasir Khan cruised into the second round of the NBP National Tennis Championship men’s singles event.

Aqeel crushed Noor Rehman 6-0, 6-0, while Yasir outplayed Malik Hamza 6-2, 6-1 at the Karachi Gymkhana yesterday. In other matches, Mohammad Manzar defeated Vinod Das 6-2, 6-2 to progress to the third round.

Meanwhile, Sahar Khwaja defeated Kinza Ghanchi 6-1, 6-2 in the women’s singles competition, while Rida Khalid beat Uroosa Ahmed 6-0, 6-1 and Urooj Iltefat brushed aside Mahnoor Jamshed 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the second round.
