‘False’ cases: Farmers protest against SDO

BAHAWALPUR: The Pakistan Farmers Unity staged a demonstration on Friday in front of the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) sub divisional office. They said Khanqah Sharifabad SDO had filed false cases against the farmers. Announcing a nationwide protest, the protesting farmers accused the officials of uncooperative attitude. The protest was led by PFU leader Mian Muhammad Aslam. Aslam alleged that SDO Abdul Rauf Sanghair and Line Superintendents Muhammad Jameel and Muhammad Saleem Bhatti were corrupt. He demanded that the cases registered against farmers at the Musafir Khana police station be dropped. They said police must begin an inquiry into the matter.
