ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party stalwart, Senator Faisal Raza Abidi while levelling serious allegations against Chief Justice of Pakistan, called on him to resign, DawnNews reported on Thursday.

According to the report, Abidi issued the call on Thursday after having unsuccessfully tried to stage a sit-in while the Senate was in session. He later handed the chair some documents to back up among other claims that Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has misused his authority.

The Senator went on to demand that Justice Tasaduq Jilani should summon a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council over the matter.

Earlier in August, the Senator was reprimanded by his party for similar allegations and demands against the Chief Justice. He was issued a notice for violating party discipline and suspended from the PPP's core committee.
