The Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) held a meeting with major players in the gems and jewellery sector to discuss the upcoming Pakistan International Gems and Jewellery Exhibition 2013 (PIGJE 2013). The meeting was held here on Thursday, at the PGJDC head office in Regent Plaza Hotel and Convention Center.
The meeting chaired by PGJDC Chairperson Senator Semeen Siddiqui and attended by PGJDC CEO Bakhtiar Khan, among other major stakeholders in the sector.
PIGJE 2013 will be a four day extravaganza showcasing the best of Pakistan’s gems and jewellery products, both traditional and contemporary, and will be held from the 9th to the 12th of May, 2013. For the first time, international exhibitors will also be allowed to display their products. Additionally, an array of machinery, equipments, tools, consumables and allied products related to gems and jewellery will also be at display by international manufacturers and companies during the exhibition.
The company’s main agenda at the meeting was to brief sector representatives on measures taken to make PIGJE 2013 more productive and successful. The meeting also served as a platform to take the sector’s suggestions for the forthcoming event and identify any issues and shortcomings they had faced in PIGJE 2012.
Khan assured sector representatives that measures are being taken to incorporate a more holistic and effective promotional strategy for the upcoming event, while Siddiqui informed sector representatives that their suggestion of a fashion show during the event – to rightfully showcase Pakistani products for international delegates – is being incorporated in PIGJE 2013. She highlighted the importance of a fashion show to generate international business and added that the complete information of the show will be shared with the sector in due time.
