Fast-bowler helps PQA to the share of the spoils in President’s Trophy

KARACHI: Mohammad Sami showed his class in domestic cricket once again, bowling with ruthless pace to grab a seven-wicket haul as PQA and PIA shared the honours on day two of their President’s Trophy match at the National Stadium, Karachi yesterday.

After resuming at 242 for six, PIA were bowled out for 334 with Sami grabbing seven. Shoaib Khan top-scored with a composed 67 while Sarfraz Ahmed struck a 85-ball 53. In reply, PQA managed to reach 178 for four, courtesy a 77-ball 61 from Umar Amin. Najaf Shah was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets.

SBP edge closer to
first-innings lead


Meanwhile, Kashif Siddique scored a quickfire 80 to help SBP to 250 for six in 69 overs in reply to UBL’s first-innings total of 252 at the UBL Complex. UBL could only add 23 to their overnight score with Mohammad Sami junior scoring a vital 71 not out. SBP off-spinner Adnan Rasool ended up with a five-wicket haul.

NBP take lead against SNGPL

In another match, NBP showed great team work to shock star-studded SNGPL to take a first-innings lead. NBP reached 218 for three in reply to SNGPL’s 195 at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot.

Sami Aslam made 63 off 141 balls, while Hammad Azam was unbeaten on 45.

Matches involving ZTBL, HBL, KRL and Wapda were marred by rain.

Muhammad Sami performed very well & He deserves to play from National team.

His performance is of no use, he is better in domestic level rather than international level. PCB should look for young blood. Sami and other cricketers (of his age) days are gone, they should be limited to domestic level.
