Malik was in Swat where he visited Malala’s school and announced the award for her. He also visited the other two girls injured in the incident and awarded them money. He also promised them compensation.
The minister, speaking at the school, said that Malala was a symbol of bravery.
Malala received a bullet injury in her head and is currently being treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Well done! I am glad the government is honoring our hero's.
@RizwanTKhan:
For being one of the braves child's in the whole population of Pakistan. This bravery isn't even shown by full grown men (Excluding military) and you ask why is she being given an award?
And her classmates?
@mr. righty rightist:
A bravery award for writing/speaking against terrorists starting at the age of 9 and standing up for girl's right to education mr. righty in an area where the taliban were trying to block girl's education. Thats called bravery. Get a clue.
First lot of prayers for your early recovery my dear sister Malal. This award is really an honour for you but you have long way to go to serve the humanity and to uphold the cause of education and you may come accross hundreds of such awards. So my main concern is your early recovery and then your safety because NATION NEEDS YOU MALAL; LONG LIVE
Where was the Sitara-e-Shujaat before ? Why is it that after every incident that takes place then only are our Pakistanis Hero's awarded or reconized ?
Malala: the only man in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
While Malala deserves every recognition and applauds she is getting, the govt needs a boot in the back! The priorities seem to be completely misplaced as is wont in the sub-continent! The top priority is to bring the culprits to book and prevent a repeat of such incidents! Today an average Pak citizen needs to protected from these monsters and they should be dealt with an iron fist, not kid gloves! RM proves that his priority is to be in the news for the most frivolous and mundane by barking up the wrong tree, like his brethren on this side of the border!
good step malik
It is absolutely clear now that these so called flag-bearers of Islam is no more than ordinary terrorists who are coward too. Otherwise what is their logic of shooting a gill who is mere 14 years of age (other than fearing her)? It is obvious from the recent examples of Arab spring in middle eastern countries that whenever any cruel dictators start fearing with their unarmed public, with their resilience, their wherewithal and when starts seeing the futility of their principle, danger to their rule and their dogams not standing against the fearless utterances of public, of an innocent girl, they start killing them. This the first mistake which led to end to their rule. Attack on an innocent girl is the start of the end of these uncivilized, narrow minded terrorists.
This is becoming a little too much now... I appreciate her but there are millions here in even poor condition, dying either in the hands of agency/establishment or militnt. Who will care for them? With all due respect to her, she is getting attention not because of our worthless Pak Govt, but the interview to BBC and other western media she gave.
@RizwanTKhan:
No, for standing against them despite the threats, Mr "Khan"
How dare the whole nation is how comes he has authority to give any one such a recognition. There is not only one Malala in this country. There were more than dozens Malal's who were killed in Jame Hafsa (Lal Masjid) Shame on YOU
@RizwanTKhan: for standing up and speaking for the rights of ignorants like you infront of TTP.
Citizens of Pakistan are more brave than the law enforcement agencies. This is why more citizens are targeted and killed than the cops.
@mr. righty rightist: Why have you not been a terror victim as yet? she is a terror victim because she tried to do something unlike a keyboard warrior like you who can only criticise. If you can't do anything then at least keep quiet. Thank you. We need more Malalas and less of you. Mind this that what Malala has been doing has nothing to do with drone attacks if that hurts your sentiments.
I do not understand what this little kid has done......every year thousands of innocent people are killed in this unfortunate country and nobody cares but this little Malala has made the entire nation, the military, media, political parties and surprisingly the entire world crazy.....People grow up we have many more serious issues to be solved rather than Malala
Good job. Credit to the Interior Ministor.
give a tamagha e munafqat to IK, PMLN & JI
very well done, she deserve it
Wish the Pakistan government had woken earlier and awarded Sitara-e-Security to Malala...
Apprehend the actual shooters, thats your job. Open trial in court and should be asked openly to register once in the minds of the people of Pakistan to clear all confusions.
Whether (Circumcised or not).
So now were getting medals for getting shot. Nicely done.
No denying the fact she deserves the highest award. However, is Mr. Malik authorised to award such honours on his own. I presume there is a laid down official procedure. Must he always try to hog the limelight?
A bravery award for being a terror victim?
Odd.
For the first time, I would applaud Rehman Malik
Will the government now come to the real issues other than looking for excuses. People are waiting for the interim government and the up coming elections.
Thats all well and good, how about a donation to the school? Actually how about some money for all schools in Swat? Actually, speaking of schools, how about pumping loads of money into schools across the country to make them the palaces, the safe houses that they need to be?
For unknowingly taking a bullet by Taliban?
Good move.But Malala deserves more than awards.
