New directorate: PHC human rights cell to be upgraded
About 10,000 of these applications have been successfully addressed.

Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Dost Muhammad Khan has directed to upgrade PHC’s human rights cell into an entire directorate. He recognised the services of the cell in protecting fundamental rights of the oppressed in society. The decision was taken by the administrative committee of the PHC headed by CJ Khan. The cell was established in the PHC in 2009 and has received about 11,000 applications regarding violation of basic human rights. About 10,000 of these applications have been successfully addressed. Converting the cell into a directorate will increase the working capacity and provide more relief.
