In the backdrop of the attack on peace activist Malala Yousufzai, the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, has called on his party members to collect details of the clerics in their respective areas.
In a statement issued by the MQM on Friday, Altaf urged all office bearers, party workers and peace loving citizens across the country to submit the details of all muftis and Ulema working in their localities regardless of their sectarian affiliations with the party’s offices within a week.
The particulars of all religious leaders holding different positions and titles such as muftis, imams and khateeb would be collected at the zonal offices from where they would be consolidated and sent to the MQM headquarters Nine Zero in Karachi, the MQM chief added.
All sector and unit office bearers were instructed to note down the names and addresses of all those clerics who refuse to share their particulars so that the list of their names could be sent to the government. “The government can itself obtain the details, as it would benefit the country and its citizens,” said Altaf.
Earlier, the MQM leader appealed to the people of Pakistan to stop offering prayers behind the clerics who do not condemn the attack on the 14-year-old Pakistani children’s rights activist.
He had given a 24-hour ultimatum to all clerics of the country to openly denounce the attack on Malala Yousufzai.
MQM’s Coordination Committee member Gulfaraz Khattak telephoned the father of Malala Yousufzai and inquired about the health of his daughter on behalf of Altaf Hussain.
He also offered every possible help in the treatment of the girl.
In Rawalpindi, a ten-member delegation of the MQM visited the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and inquired about the health of the injured activist from her relatives.

Haha. Finally I come across something I perceive as a bold step. I hope he does what attaturk did and rid this country of this moulvy madness!
We Pakistanis want all murderers in Karachi..and all detail who were and being killed through drone attacks...
@Khan- as you suggested yourself ex-PTI, why bother to make your fingers work that hard and type so much. we already know, that you did not even know what Politics is....that is why you were in PTI...and you left PTI is the further attestation about being mentally challanged.
so far what you have written about MQM is just coming out from a pure hate that brew without any due reason. And it does validate about that you belong to the set of immotional populace that First Allege-then-Convict-then-sentence-and TRY to execute mqm based on TV talk shows...i sincerely wish you well...and i hope..that your treatment is well under way in a hospital that provide internet access- so you can update your FB status...and threw some logical comments on current affairs.best of luck.
What is he up to. What does he think he is. He is issuing such statements which indicate his fascist behaviour. It is a well known fact that MQM has a specialised cell which collects bio data of his opponents. This is the only party in the world which has sector in-charges or sector commanders.
Ive grown to like Altaf. The MQM aren't as bad as people make them out to be.
The government should stop a political party, which is already accused of mishaps in the city, from collecting personal data of the citizens. If the government deem it viable, it should do it itself. Who knows the consolidated data won't be abused or used in terrorist activities such as targeted killings.
A wonderful idea- lets boycot all such Mullahs who fail to condemn attack on little Malala. Lets not even enter such masjids where prayers are led by Taliban supportive clerics.
