Pakistan number two Yasir Khan failed to improve his record in the ITF Futures tournaments in Doha as he crashed out in the first qualifying round of the Qatar F3 Futures men’s singles event, losing to Jakub Lustyk 6-0, 6-2.
Khan conceded his performance was not good enough.
“I wouldn’t say I performed badly, but it was just not enough,’ Khan told The Express Tribune. “The competition is tough, and I did have high hopes but it just gives me the idea that I have to improve a lot in order to stay in the professional circuit. Lustyk was just too good for me.”
Khan went to Doha from Barcelona, where he played four domestic tournaments with Spanish players in preparation. In the Qatar F2 Futures tournament, Khan reached the second round, after defeating local Mohammad Khingi 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 but lost to Greece’s Theodoros Amgelinos 6-2, 7-5.
Khan will return to Karachi tomorrow, hoping to prepare for more Futures tournaments earlier next year.
