Style Icon: Meesha Shafi

Whether it’s a brand launch or a red carpet event, model-actor Meesha Shafi always manages to keep it funky. Meesha, who is also the brand spokesperson for L’oreal Paris, has the confidence to experiment with new styles and pulls it off well. Whether it’s a pixie hair cut or neon green eyeshadow, you can always count on her to look like a perfect 10.

“Over the years my style sensibility has been quite fluid. I’d say 50% of my style is defined by where I shop from and what I buy. The other 50% comes when I’m putting together a look or an outfit,” says Meesha.

The singer turned actor, who featured in Arif Lohar’s “Jugni” and earned fame from “Coke Studio”, likes hunting for pieces with novelty value while travelling for work. “I like a healthy mix of street shopping, high street brands and an occasional sprinkling of high end labels,” she tells The Express Tribune.

Unlike many who would love to flaunt expensive arm candy, Meesha stays true to high street brands. “At this point in life, I am feeling a bit averse to all the luxury brands (bags/shoes) that everyone is toting,” she says. “I don’t understand this obsession with bags that cost more than cars and sometimes even houses. Just the obsession factor gets to me and personally, I find it is just not justified in these dark times to focus on such fickle things. I would rather take that same amount of money and fund somebody’s education.”
