Waseem cruises into Combat Games semis

Pakistan’s prominent boxer Muhammad Waseem stormed into the semi-finals of the Combat Games boxing event in Beijing and assured himself a bronze medal.

The Combat Games comprise 71 high-ranking boxers from fifteen countries where five Pakistani boxers took part in the event with four failing to register a win.

Mohibullah, who put up a tough fight against opponent Herrad Juan in 49-kilogramme category, lost 7-8 in the final round. Amir Khan lost against Jenkklins Chirostopher from Wales 15-4, while Nisar Khan went down 5-1 against Jafaev Navrrow. Meanwhile, Tariq Zia also lost his bout against Kyrgyzstan opponent.

Waseem was the only Pakistani boxer who won the bout in the quarter-final with a score of 5-4 against a Kyrgyzstani boxer.
