Man killed by adversaries at a court in Mardan

MARDAN: A man was killed by his adversaries in the limits of district sessions court in city of Mardan on Wednesday.

SHO Riaz of city police while talking to The Express Tribune said that Gul Amir, a resident of Misriabad, told the police that he along with his son Nasir had come to the court for a case hearing. He added that after some time he and his son decided to get a cup of tea and subsequently went outside the court premises since there was plenty of time for their case to be heard.

Riaz said that when Amir and his son reached the gate of the court three accused Zohaib, Ayaz, Ghani residents of Taru Jabba, opened fire on them. Nasir died on the spot, but fortunately Amir narrowly escaped.

The police officer further added that the accused were trying to flee but the an on duty ASI Muqadam Khan grabbed the accused Zohaib along with his pistol. Zohaib was subsequently detained. The suspect confessed that he along with his relatives were trying to kill both the father and son over an old enmity.

This is not the first time that someone has tried to gun down their adversaries within the limits of Mardan court. On June 21, a man killed his wife and injured four people including lady police personnel inside a court. He too was subsequently arrested.
